What is Meditation

Meditation is the progressive quietening of the fluctuations of the mind

Meditation allows us to quieten the thoughts in our ever-busy minds. By focusing on our breath or a phrase or an object we can turn the dimmer switch on our thoughts to low and operate from a place of strength, calmness and compassion. The more frequently we tap into that quiet, the better equipped we are to face ordinary and extra-ordinary challenges.

Meditation has been scientifically proven to make life better. It is that simple. Meditation effectively makes every aspect of our life better; it improves physical and mental health, in addition to improving emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Personal experience has been substantiated by undisputed scientific research dating back to the 1970s and continues to be investigated and validated today with continuing advancements in technology.

Meditation is not a religion, it is not a philosophy and it is not a cult. Meditation is not about sitting in a cave or disengaging from society. Nor is it sitting in a weird position and numbing ourselves from the highs and lows of life. The joy of meditating is not about becoming the best meditator in the world. The bliss of a regular and consistent meditation practice is it helps make the rest of our day, when our eyes are open, so much better! John Lennon and Paul McCartney asked Prudence to open up her eyes and look around… the delight of meditating is seeing that the sun is up and that the sky is blue and that it is beautiful (and so are you…)

Something as simple as five minutes in the morning and five minutes in the afternoon can make a significant difference to how you feel and how you approach life.
